Wayne Lin and Stephanie Sun

Congratulations to all the winners in the Singapore Hit Awards 2005. JJ's performance was awesome. His vocal is great and is glory of Singapore. This multi-talented singer, together with Asia Pop Princess Sun Yanzi, bagged four awards each, making themselves the bigger winner of the year.

Thumbs down to the organizer of the show. Every year, without fail, there will be no live telecast unlike those in other countries. The telecast on Channel U just now was terribly short. They cut away so many scenes. I will put the show in the bottom few of my personal chart among the similar awards shows in Asia. If you look carefully, there is not really of fair system in terms of nominees. The show is not as grand as others. The "QI FEN" is not there. You just don't feel excited and nervous. Almost all the singers who attended every year will walk away with at least an award. Likewise for this year just that there are a few local singers (Joi Chua and Stella Ng) who went home empty handed. Unlike those in other countries, there are no "DA PAI" singers like Jay Chou, Faye Wong, Andy Lau and ...

There's this particular singer who, if you notice, will not fail to say "This is my XXX years getting this award." A close relative of mine commented that this singer scared people don't how many years she/he get the award. My relative went on saying that she/he very old, coz XXX years get the award liao. Lolx! Make a guess who bahx. If you don't know, you better listen carefully to the telecast of Singapore Hit Awards 2006 because this singer will never fail to receive that award. A interview with Mediacorp News after the ceremony, the singer again said the same thing. Aiyo! A friend of mine agreed with me that the winners of the show are expected. You won't see much difference in the winner this year and the previous year. Not much of a competition for the nominees actually. If you are not invited, it simply means you will not get the award. The show started off with Maia Lee. It really turned me off but lucky got Kelly Poon to balance and made the situation better. When a winner was annonced, every singer just walk up like that, no hand shakes and hugs with other shows de. And at the end, I can see Sly standing there like a tree while others are busying hand-shaking and chit-chatting. But he is the next big of Singapore anyway. I missed the old days where you get to see Faye Wong, Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau and even Zhang Xin Zhe. Haixx. I missed Kit Chan shinning days as well. I don't know who is He Jin Yin, the one that is nominated in Best Local Female Singer but I think Celest Chong, who released her album Snowflakes last year made a better nominee.

Fann Wong and Christopher Lee

Something to look forward to, Singapore "Yi Ge" and "Yi Jie", Fann and Chris will be attending the 42th Golden Horse Award in Taiwan next week. Fann was invited there to have publicity for her upcoming new Taiwanese movie. They are one of the five celebrity couples being invited there. One other couple is Shu Qi and Zhang Zheng. Christopher Lee said in an earlier interview with a China press that he will definitely marry Fann Wong just that it is a matter of time. Let's hope their marriage will be a happy one like Pan Lingling and Huang Shinan's and Hong Huifang and Zheng Geping's and not like Li Nanxing and Yang Liping's and Lin Meijiao and Huang Yiliang's.
